Computer-aided design is a technology used to create and design in drafting of a part or product. It can be visual and symbol-based method of communications. Drafting is an important component of a product especially in architecture and engineering field. Computer-aided design is used to create a design of all kinds of buildings from residential to industrial buildings and also engineering products and materials.

Drafting is the art of creating accurate representations of objects for technical. It is mostly used in engineering works for instance in Civil Engineering they made a draft of their plan and design. The same also as what Architects do in designing a structure.

Before they are just using manual drawing to create their designs and plan. But as the time and technology evolves human has made an easier and convenient way to create their layouts and design. This is with the help of Computer-aided design (CAD) software’s. Current CAD software packages range from 2D vector base drafting systems to 3D solid and surface modellers.

CAD’s main used is for detailed engineering of 3D models and/or 2D drawings of physical components, and is also used throughout the engineering process from conceptual design and layout of products. Using CAD software packages made it easier for architects and engineers to create their design as they can print, save and retrieve anytime their work for editing thus saving time.
